La muerte de Girardot en Bárbula, painted by the Venezuelan Cristóbal Rojas in 1883, depicts the death of South American revolutionary Atanasio Girardot during the Battle of Bárbula on September 30, 1813. Despite the loss of Girardot, a military officer from what is now Colombia who fought alongside Simón Bolívar, the revolutionary troops went on to defeat the opposing royalist army.
